Your Educator, Nishigandha Palshikar has a Bachelor of Computer Engineering degree from PICT college under University of Pune and was a merit list holder in SSC and HSC. Before PrograMitra, she founded and ran TheWoodPortal for 5 years which is an industry portal for the woodworking industry. Earlier, she worked as a Lead Software Developer at BMC India for 7 years. She is mother to a 8 year old digital native. Always passionate about teaching, she decided to integrate it with her software development expertise through PrograMitra.
We began our journey in mid-2014 brainstorming about the ways to create excitement about Computer Programming among kids! We know we enjoy it a lot and want to let others know the same.
In-house Robots anyone?
In early 2015, built our own robotics platform Compushak to ensure that affordability does not become a factor in learning physical world interaction.
Launched 5-day workshops for April-May 2015 to introduce children to all the cool technologies that they can learn with us.
After a great response to our summer workshops in Computer & Robot Programming, launched the 8-month Junior and Senior Coders courses (July 2015 – March 2016)
Come Computer Science week, conducted a unique session – Coding with Parents- students and their parents from various educational and professional backgrounds tried their hand at computer programming- It was a resounding success!
As our Junior and Senior Coders reached the end of the course, we organized Code to Learn, Code for Fun 2016! – an exhibition of games, animations, Android Apps, Lego activities, Compushak and CodePad by students of PrograMitra
Started our second center @ Baner to a great response. We conducted 12 workshops during the summer. Represented PrograMitra at the prestigious LitBug Fest with a talk about Story-telling and Computer Programming.
Junior and Senior Coders Courses commence at both centers, we cross the 200 student milestone with 225 students. Article about ‘Programming for children’ published in Happiness Network by Paranjape Schemes.
Hosted a unique 3D printing demo for the Senior Coders to see what the future of manufacturing may well be. All students took away 3D printed PrograMitra keychains!
Hosted the second edition of our Coding with Parents session in Computer Science Education week at International Convention Center, Pune. 160 people – students, parents and grandparents tried their hand at Computer Programming and Completed the Hour of Code.
Started a new year on a high- PrograMitra was a part of Loksatta Maharashtra’s feature on off-beat ventures by women entrepreneurs. Finished our Junior and Senior Coders Courses with our exhibition Code to Learn, Code for Fun 2017 at International Convention Center, Pune.
